Till this day, on our Indian screen we have just seen Computer Graphical work in creating imaginary features resulting in stunning visuals that feasted our eyes. ‘Robot’ comes with a new technology of Animatronics which is still more superior than CG and first time used in this part of World.

Cinematographer Rathnavelu (aka Randy) is the main person behind this creation and ask him what is matters more about this ‘Robot’? Here is his answer:

‘In ‘Robot’ we had to create a Robot just like Rajini sir. For that, we went to the US, had Rajini sir do a body scan and created a Robot in Hollywood based on the specifics of his scan.

The difference between animatronics and CG is that, if we use CG to recreate a person, audience will be able to find out that CG has been used in just a matter of seconds and the impact could be lost. Also, the lighting for metal wouldn’t look great if real metal wasn’t used. That was the reason we opted for animatronics.

Let me explain it this way, the reason you found the dinosaurs real in Jurassic Park was because they opted for Animatronics in that film. The animatronics part was quite a challenge. Ensuring appropriate lighting for scenes in which metal is used is generally difficult.’

With such high end technology used for ‘Robot,’ let us wish Shankar, the director with vision for raising the standards of Indian cinema.
