In a bid to remove the doubts raised by several quarters about the efficiency of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao on Tuesday said the Election Commission would remove the misconstrued notions about the EVMs.

In the backdrop of training held for returning officials and polling personnel for the ensuing byelections in the state, at jubilee hall on Tuesday, Rao said the Commission would essay to build confidence on the usage of EVMs.

Dismissing the fears that EVMs could be tampered with, Rao said the EVMs are tamper-proof. Micro-observers would be deployed at all polling booths to oversee the polling arrangements, he said elaborate steps are being taken to conduct elections in a free and fair manner.
