Ministers chosen by YSR should make stand on JLC clear: Shobha

Praja Rajyam Party MLA Shobha Nagireddy on Wednesday demanded that all the Ministers who had been chosen by former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy to join his Cabinet must make their stance clear whether they support the Joint Legislative Committee constituted by the state government to probe into the land allotments made under his rule.

Making her objection clear to the PRP lending support to the state government’s decision to constitute the JLC, Ms Nagi Reddy told media persons at Assembly Media Point that the JLC probe must also cover the land allotments made during the stint of Telugu Desam Party rule.

The PRP MLA, a known supporter of former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, said that she was forced to raise the demand through media as the ruling and Opposition TDP had effectively stifled her voice on the Floor of the House by not allowing her to speak in the House. Even the government had not responding properly to her efforts, Ms Nagi Reddy complained.

“The Ministers should make their stand clear on the JLC,” she demanded.

“If the Ministers are supporting the government, then they have no moral right to continue in the Cabinet since they were chosen by Dr Rajasekhara Reddy himself and they should resign from their posts,” she added.

The PRP MLA alleged that the state government, under Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and the main opposition TDP had ‘fixed the match’ over the appointment of JLC. She said that they, the government and the opposition, have wasted the precious time of House without discussing any issue concerning the people.

Describing Agriculture Minister YS Vivekananda Reddy submitting his resignation as a `drama’, Ms Nagi Reddy said that YSV had submitted his resignation only to get political mileage in the upcoming by-elections.

The PRP MLA further stated that the TDP was unable to tackle Mr Jaganmohan Reddy on the political field and was resorting to tarnish his image by leveling baseless corruption allegations.

She also demanded probe into Rs 2500 crore investments of media baron and Eenadu group chairman Ramoji Rao into another company. “How can a unit claiming that it had lost Rs 1800 crore, invest Rs 2,500 crore in another company,” she questioned. The government should order a probe into this issue, she demanded.

Another MLA identified with the Jagan group, Srikanth Reddy, stated that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu has no moral right to criticize the YSR family as he backstabbed his own father-in-law for the sake of power.

He said “We are supporting Mr Jaganmohan Reddy as we were elected due to YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s blessings. We are not looking for any posts.”

Mr Srikanth Reddy challenged the Congress MLAs to resign and re-contest if they assumed that they won their seats without the help of YSR’s charisma.

Another MLA Babu Rao demanded resignation of Congress MLAs and seek reelection on their own.
