Hyderabad, Oct 2: The Leader of Opposition and Telugu Desam Party Supremo N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday called upon party workers to take up rescue and relief works in flood hit districts.


Expressing serious concern over the flood situation in Krishna and Tungabha basin areas, he said for the first time the state was facing such a grim situation due to floods.

He said that the situation may worsen in Kurnool, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Krishna and Guntur districts as the water levels in Krishna, Tungabhadra were increasing every hour following heavy rain upstream in neighbouring Karnataka state.


Naidu stated that he met the Chief Minister in this regard and urged him to take up relief works on war-footing.
He asked the chief minister to inform the people over flood situation regularly.


He also told the people in affected areas to cooperate with officials and move to safer places.
He asked the government officials who are on leave, to join duty immediately to participate actively in the relief operations.


He appealed to party workers to shift the flood affected people to safer places and supervise the supply of food packets and drinking water to them.
