The Telugu Desam party will take bus yatra to Maharashtra state, which is constructing 14 barrages on the river Godavari illegally, to ascertain the facts with all-party members.

According to Telugu Desam supreme N Chandrababu Naidu, the party would invite all-party leaders for Maharashtra state to prove the illegal projects being constructed on river Godavari with substantial evidence.

Talking to reporters, Naidu said in the bus yatra, he would also invite Chief Minister K Rosaiah and Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy for the bus yatra.

The yatra aimed to mount pressure on the Centre and state government as the illegal projects being constructed by Maharashtra would affect irrigation interests of state, particularly the Telangana region.

Naidu alleged Major and Minor Irrigation Minister Ponnala Laxmaih did not visit the project sites following the threats issued by Maharashtra state.

Naidu said he would meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on the issue and seeks his intervention to resolve the inter-state river water issue.

He said the Tdp would launch agitations across the state protesting liquor licence auctions after consulting with other party members in August.

He demanded scraping of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board following the irregularities reported in the Board.
