Naveen Chandra for all his talent is unable to set the screens on fire as a single hero despite many of his films releasing in quick succession. In the midst of all this, he is getting ready to entertain movie lovers with his upcoming film Show Time which is releasing on 4 July 2025. Let us see what Naveen Chandra offered to movie lovers with Show Time.
Show Time story revolves around a middle class family and how a murder changes their lives in a completely drastic manner. Surya (Naveen Chandra) and his wife Shanti (Kamakshi Bhaskarla) who has been enjoying happy moments in their house watching TV gets shock of their lives late night.
Where this leads to and how it is connected to CI Lakshmikanth (Raja Ravindra) and lawyer Varadarajulu (VK. Naresh) form the interesting part of the narration.
Naveen Chandra performed well in the role tailormade for him. He was not required to do anything different which he did in earlier films and he did the role in a sincere and polite manner. He showed good emotions and expressions and carried himself well on the screen.
Naresh Sr. performed well and created a laughing riot with his performance. His screen presence added value and elevated the scenes. However at times he went overboard ending up irritating the viewers. Raja Ravindra made good impact in the role of the police officer and sported a serious look to carry the intensity on the screen.
Kamakshi Bhaskarla is good in her role. She did justice to it with her performance. Gemini Suresh is good in a comical role. Others performed according to their roles. Both most of their performances are laidback and they just passed through the motions.
Show Time story is penned by director Madan Dakshinamurthy. He tried to present the story in an interesting manner. The entire story takes place in one day and he wrapped the first half in just one and half hour and concentrated on the second half. The entry of Naresh not only comes with a twist but also had few hilarious elements. He showed the entire story in one room and this showed his creativity. However he should have worked on the humour and suspense along with powerful twists and elements, things would have been more impactful.
The dialogues penned by Gavireddy Srinivas are good but could have been more powerful. The episodes of featuring Naresh and Raja Ravindra came out well. Climax turned out to be different to generate interest.
The cinematography of T.Vinod Raja is decent and is in sync with the story. Sekhar Chandra's background score is good and added spice to the story. Editing of Sarath Kumar is ok. Production values are decent.
Altogether, Show Time turns out to be silly and crass entertainer. Director Madhan Dakshinamurthy, despite having a seasoned performer like Naveen Chandra, failed to come up with a decent entertainer. True that he came up with a good premise but he failed to turn it into a good story. With the story turning weak, he passed the entire first half with senseless scenes and uninteresting narration and the dragged elements tested the patience of the viewers.
The half baked scenes and uninterested and laid back attitude and performances of the actors except the lead pair did not help the cause in any manner. Except for the final few minutes everything turned mediocre. Dialogues are not in good taste. Director failed to do justice to his idea and just because he got idea, it was foolish on part of Naveen Chandra to trust him completely. He should have asked for the racy screenplay and powerful script to create a powerful impact. Considering all these elements Cinejosh goes with a 1.5 rating for Show Time.
