Sandalwood stars Shraddha Srinath and Kishore are coming with a futuristic thriller Kaliyugam 2064 directed by Pramodh Sundar. Let us see that the film offered to movie lovers.
Kaliyugam 2064 story revolves around an apocalyptic world where people are stripped of food and water, and the consequences that follow.
In Kaliyugam 2064,Liberators fight for their survival to enter into the highly secured area of Residents. Shakti (Kishore Kumar) fights against all odds to survive to enter into the area of Residents.
Whether he is able to survive and what is the connection of Safe House and who is Thomas (Iniyan Subramani), and what role Bhoomi (Shraddha Srinath) played form the interesting part.
Shraddha Srinath is seen a completely different role. Till now she played the romantic roles and also homely characters. In this she got a completely different role and she did justice to it. She elevated the scenes with her body language and performance. She showed the pain and agony in her eyes and emoted well. However she appears just before the interval in the film and from then on takes the film to the next level.
Iniyan Subramani looked good as a silent killer. He showed subtle expressions as required for the role. Kishore Kumar got good even presence in the first half but his role ends in an abrupt manner much to the disappoint as lot was expected by the way it was characterized. Others like Harry, Asmal, Santhosh, Mani, Aarya Lekshmi, Moses, Master Ronith performed according to their roles.
Kaliyugam 2064 story is penned by Pramodh Sundar. He came up with an interesting and innovative idea and concept and tried to narrate it on the screen in a thrilling manner.
The idea of how people behave when they have no option but to survive sounds interesting. He starts the narration in an exciting manner but as he goes into the story he loses plot and the screenplay turns convoluted ending in leaving viewers extremely confused.
The entry of Shraddha Srinath at the end of the first half excites all and sets the tone for the second half. The second half follows the same pattern and in the end he comes with a message that people should have humanity even while fighting for their own survival. Dialogues are hard hitting and thought provoking.
Cinematography of K. Ram Charan is top class. He showed the futuristic world in a captivating manner. He used the colour combinations to perfection to thrill all. Sakthi Venkatraj's art work is the highlight in the film. It is top class and added value to the vision of the director. Background score of Don Vincent is good and took viewers into the story. Editing of Nimz is ok but could have been better as there are many scenes that slowed the pace of the narration. Production values are good.
Altogether, Kaliyugam 2064 is an interesting thriller with hard hitting message. Director Pramodh Sundar came up with an interesting concept and narrated it with conviction and got good output from the cast and crew.
However, had he simplified the narration and turned the screenplay bereft off confusion, things would have been different. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 2.5 rating for Kaliyugam 2064.
