Gunasekhar who is known for his grand visuals in his films on the screen, of late failed to set the screens on fire with his previous films. This time, he decided to come up touch a different genre with Euphoria. The film starring Bhumika Chawla in the main role is releasing on 6 Feb 2026. The film's OTT rights are yet to be finalised and details will be revealed at a later date. Let us see what impact Gunasekhar made on movie lovers with Euphoria.
Euphoria movie revolves an aspiring young girl and how her life changes when she goes to a party and happens to come across guys of similar age and becomes friends with them. Young girl Chaitra (Sara Arjun)'s IAS dreams turns upside down when she attends a party in a pub along with her friends.
What happened to Chaitra and how she faced the consequences, how it is connected to Vikas (Vignesh Gavireddy) and sons of other influential parents, how Vikas's mother Vindya (Bhoomika), Principal of Vikas Public School react and what role Commissioner of Police Jayadev (Gautam Vasudev Menon), Psycho Sahil (Addala Prithviraj) played form rest of the narration.
Sara Arjun who made an impact with Dhurandhar and who became the talk of the nation, played an important role in the film. She showed good emotions and expressions and reflected the pain of the victim and also the resolute nature of a young girl who fights against all odds. She made an impact in the climax with her performance.
Vignesh Gavireddy on debut came up with an impactful performance. He not only transformed his look but showed variations in his body language. He delivered dialogues with ease and also emoted and expressed himself well. He elevated the scenes with his performance especially during the climax.
Bhoomika Chawla played an important and pivotal role. She carried the film on her shoulders. She showed the pain of a mother when her world turns upside down as she comes to know that her upbringing went drastically wrong and she had to face the scrutiny of the society. However at times, the way Gunasekhar portrayed her role like her taking a wrong step to bring change in her son looks awkward. She delivered emotional dialogues with impact and expressed herself through her eyes.
Rohit played the role of Bhumika's husband aptly. Nassar is good in the role of a judge while Addala Prithviraj did justice in the role of a psycho. Others like Likhita Yalamanchali, Kalpa Latha, Sai Srinika Reddy, Ashrita Vemuganti, Mathew Varghese, Aadarsh Balakrishna, Ravi Prakash, Naveena Reddy, Likith Naidu performed according to their roles.
Euphoria story is penned by Gunasekhar. Till now Gunasekhar came up with different genre films and this time he touched a completely new genre. He worked hard in every scene after coming up with a story that is related to the society at present in the context of the increasing pub culture and parents unable to spend time with their children due to their busy schedule.
He starts the narration in an intersting manner and the narration and screenplay sails off at a smooth pace without any deviations. He continued in the same vein with Sara Arjun, Bhoomika, Gautam Menon, Vikas Gavireddy and others characters introduced and taken forward without losing anytime. The first half ends on a good note setting the stage for the impactful second half.
But the second half the scenes turn repetitive with Bhoomika and Gavireddy taking the centre stage, where the viewers get disconnected and are left to wonder where the movie is heading. In his attempt to come up with a hardhitting narration and strong message to the society at times, he missed the connectivity and the so called message got diluted especially in the second half.
However, Gunasekhar brings the narration back on track with the pre climax and climax episodes. The climax is touching and emotional and he ended the story at the right time without dragging it further.
Kala Bhairava elevated the scenes with his impactful background music. He carried the viewers into the storyline with the thumping background score. Couple of songs are situational but one song impacted the flow of the narration in the second half. The cinematography of Praveen K Pothan added value to the story with the color combination giving realistic feel and natural look. The editing of Prawin Pudi is good in the first half and could have been better in the second half where he left few repetitive scenes and drags unattended to.
Dialogues written by Nagendra Kasi and Krishna Hari are thoughtprovoking and hardhitting. Production values are grand.
Altogether, Euphoria turns out to be a hardhitting message oriented film. Gunasekhar changed track and managed to surprise all by touching a genre and showing all sides of juvenile crimes, rather than turning a blindeye to various angles trying to portray someone as the villian.
He not only showed the pain of the victims but also the pain of the parents of the juvenile criminals and touched all the angles and did the balancing act in a cmmendable manner. He highlighted the growing pub culture, and also parents' negligence and pampering and how impacts not only their lives but also the lives of others and also came up with hardhitting questions like whether a girl going to pub is wrong. He also sent a powerful message stating that there is no good or bad touch but only bad touch in the current society. He came up with a gripping screenplay and got the optimum performances not only from the experienced actors like Bhoomika Chawla but also newcomers.
However at times he turned extremely serious and at times he missed few logics especially in the second half. Had he ironed down these things, impact would have been even more powerful. Gunasekhar managed to send a powerful message not only to the society but also to the parents and he should be commended for his attempt. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 2.25 rating for Euphoria.
