Vijay Kanakamedala is known for his impactful films like Naandhi and Ugram. The film is touted to be the remake of Tamil hit Garudan though the makers clarified that they have made few changes. Bhairavam OTT rights have been bagged by Zee5 for a whopping sum of Rs 32crs. Let us see what impact Bhairavam created on movie lovers.
Bhairavam story revolves around two friends and the happenings in their lives throwing questions over their loyalty under the changed circumstances and how they deal with them.
Varada ( Narasimha Rohith) , owner of Varada Transports and Gajapati Varma( Manchu Manoj) oversee the activities in the powerful Varahi Temple and they are supported by Varada's right hand man, Seenu ( Sai Srinivas Bellamkonda).
But things take a drastic turn when powerful politician (Sharath Lohithaswa) enters the fray. Where this leads to and how it is connected to Varada's grandmother Nagaratnamma( Jayasudha), Gajapati's wife Neelima ( Aanandi), Varada's wife Poorna( Divya Pillai),Vennela ( Aditi Shankar), CI Partha Sarathi ( Sampath Raj), Naga Raju( Ajay), police Sundarachari( Vennela Kishore), form the interesting developments.
Bellamkonda Sreenivas is good in his role. He showed variations in his mannerisms and dialogue delivery. He transformed his look for the role and while for most of the first half his role is subdued and mellowed showing only mild romantic traits, during the interval block, it takes completely a drastic turn. He surprises all with his body language, intensity and powerful expressions and emotions. He enacted high octane action blocks with ease. Overall Bellamkonda Sreenivas Energy, Dances, Fight, Elevated Screen Into Next Level.
Manchu Manoj elevated the scenes with his intense performance. However, his role is unidimensional right from the start. He delivered dialogues powerfully but most of the times he turned out to be loud. In many scenes, his mannerisms and dialogue delivery reminded viewers his father Mohan Babu.
Nara Rohith seems to have shed few kilos for his role and sported a different look. He got a different role from his earlier films and performed with much needed aggression.
Nara Rohith, Manchu Manoj and Bellamkonda Sreenivas screen presence is a treat on the big screen.
Aditi Shankar is cute and bubbly in traditional looks. However, she looked very young opposite Bellamkonda Sreenivas. She completely looked a miscast. Aanandi is decent on her role while Divya Pillai made her presence felt. Jayasudha did a small role while Ajay, Raja Ravindra, Sarath lohitashwa Sampath Raj, Sandeep Raj,Vennela Kishore performed according to their roles.
Bhairavam story is penned by Vijay Kanakamedala. The film is a remake of Tamil hit Garudan. In the remake Manchu Manoj, Nara Rohith and Bellamkonda Sreenivas reprised the roles played by Unni Mukundan, Sashikumar and Soori. The narration starts in a mass manner with the introduction of all the three heroes. Director takes time introducing various other characters and then spending time highlighting the romance between Bellamkonda Sreenivas and Aditi Shankar.
The pace picks up in the run-up to the interval. The first half sheet the slow start sets the stage for the second half with the high octane interval bang. The second half starts in the similar fashion but the director added few interesting and exciting elements to excite everyone. Especially The devotional part in the second half is a thoughtful addition.
The action blocks drive all crazy, few emotional scenes makes up for the lags in the first half. The pre climax is good but the weak and mild climax evaporates all the intensity. Some of them remind viewers of Kantara and Pushpa.
The music and tunes rendered by Sricharan Pakala are just ok. They fail to make an impression and in fact acted as speed breakers. The songs are shot with commercial dance moves in an energetic manner. He elevated the scenes with his thumping background music.
Cinematography of Hari K Vedantam gave a realistic feel showcasing the village atmosphere in a rustic and natural way.
Chota K Prasad tried to make the flow of the narration with his ending but he left few drags which impacted the flow of the narration. Production values are good.
Altogether, Bhairavam turns out to be a routine commercial entertainer. Vijay Kanakamedala aided with young heroes Bellamkonda Sreenivas, Nara Rohith and Manchu Manoj, came with action entertainer. Though he started the narration at a slow pace, he managed to entertain viewers by elevating the roles of the trio with intense action elements. However A little fine tuning of the script, racy screenplay especially in the first half and powerful climax would have added value to the film's final outcome. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2.75 rating for Bhairavam.
