Low pressure area over Bay of Bengal

Visakhapatnam, Sept 26 :

A low pressure area was formed over North West Bay of Bengal, adjacent to south coastal Orissa and across north coastal Andhra Pradesh, according to a bulletin from the Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) here.

The CWC here said the system is likely to intensify into a depression due to its partial presence over the sea and the land. Under its influence rain or thunder showers were likely to occur at many places over north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Telangana during the next 24 hours.

Strong winds from the north-easterly direction with speed reaching 45 to 50 kmph are likely along and off coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfalls at a few places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts were likely to occur during the period. A warning has been issued to all the civic agencies to take precautionary measures and to evacuate people in the low-lying areas adjacent to poorly managed drainages.
