Kajal wasn’t keen on this genre before

The actress’ first web series to release on February 12

2021 is actress Kajal Aggarwal’s 14th year in the film industry and marriage has done little to halt her victorious march. She has as many as four films lined up for release this year across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu including Acharya, Hey Sinamika, Mumbai Saga and Mosagallu. That’s not all, the actress is getting ready for the release of first web show titled ‘Live Telecast’, slated to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar later this week. This marks her first project in the horror-comedy space.

When we wondered what made her wait to act in a horror story all this while, she said in an interview to The Hindu, “I am not a very big fan of horror. That’s why I said no to all projects in this genre. I’ve got several offers before, but I’ve not really wanted to do something of this nature.”  The actress wanted to take up horror only if it was for a web show and that Live Telecast came to her at the right time. She plays Jenny, a media professional stuck in a haunted house.

Live Telecast is directed by Venkat Prabhu, with whom she reunites after 13 long years. They’d earlier worked on the Tamil-Telugu bilingual Saroja that won critical acclaim at the time of the release. Incidentally, Vaibhav Reddy, who acted alongside Kajal in Saroja, is part of the show. Anandhi, recently seen in Prasanth Varma’s Zombie Reddy, too plays a key role in Live Telecast.
