The lockdown in place because of the coronavirus outbreak has given a fillip to the OTT industry across the globe. OTT content has surged to new highs during the lockdown.
Realizing the fact that, theaters won’t be re-opened in near future, several Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn etc. gave their nod to release their films in OTT platforms. Few are even doing web series in various digital platforms.
Coming to Tollywood, even young heroes are not keen to release their films on OTTs, forget about doing originals in digital platforms. Top stars, however, are showing interest in produce OTT originals.
Not just stars, but few big directors are also venturing into digital media as producers. Besides producing, the star directors are also assisting young talent in scripts.
On the other hand, given stars won’t do OTT films, they are giving chance to young and talented actors. Few actors who feel it as a good opportunity are giving their nod to feature in them. This indeed has turned a blessing in disguise for them.
Besides co-producing OTT films, few stars are said to be planning to launch their own OTT platforms.
