Till sometime back there used to be a lot of gap between the remuneration of Bollywood stars and south stars. South stars used to get 25% less than what Bollywood stars used to get. But things changed drastically in the recent past. South stars remuneration is on par or more than that of Bollywood stars.
Top stars remunerations amount to around 75% of the film budget. Vijay and Rajinikanth in Tamil, Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, NTR, Prabhas, Allu Arjun in Telugu are getting huge paychecks.
But analysts are of the opinion that all these stars may get COVID shock. Producers who have given them advances may request these stars to reconsider on their remuneration due to coronavirus impact. COVID effect may bring down the theatrical rights and nontheatrical rights business also.
Analysts feel the COVID impact will be there for around one year and to come out of it, stars should sacrifice their remunerations. Even heroes who are endorsing top brands may face the same problem and cost-cutting will be implemented by the corporates.
