AP Assembly Passes Legislative Council Abolition Bill

AP Assembly Passes Legislative Council Abolition Bill on Monday

It's yet another consequential day in the history of residual Andhra Pradesh state. The AP Assembly passed the Legislative Council's abolition bill on Monday.

Earlier this morning, the AP cabinet, headed by the CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, resolved to abolish AP's legislative council. And the same was introduced in the assembly for discussion. Eventually, the bill was passed by the assembly with a 133-0 lead. Incidentally, Janasena MLA Rapaka Vara Prasad too cast his vote in favour of the council's abolition bill.

However, it was an unexpected shocker to the YSRCP with 18 MLAs skipped from the house on the D-day.

The CM found an immense fault with the legislative council as the most crucial bills such as decentralisation and many other bills were obstructed by the council. To defend his argument, the CM screened the videos in which ex CM Chandrababu Naidu mouthed comments against the revival of the council.
