30 Years for 'Megastar'

30 Years for 'Megastar' Title

It was August 4, 1988. Supreme Hero Chiranjeevi's Maranamrudangam hit the screens across united Andhra Pradesh. As usually, fans thronged to theatres with an immense enthusiasm.

And they went jubilant watching the title 'Megastar' prefixed for Chiranjeevi's name in the title cards. Chiranjeevi was the first ever hero in Indian film history to have been given the title 'Megastar'. While the producer KS Rama Rao gave the title to Chiranjeevi as Megastar, it was late Rao Gopala Rao, who announced Chiranjeevi as the Megastar.

Maranamrudangam completed 30 years of its release on August 4, 2018 and so was Megastar title. Even today, there is none in Tollywood to touch the range, status and the title 'Megastar' of Chiranjeevi.

Maranamrudangam was a super hit novel of Yandamoori Veerendranadh which was filmed by Kodandarami Reddy. Ilayaraja's best compositions became the best choices for music lovers even today.

Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi is currently working for Tollywood's next magnum opus Sye Raa Narasimhareddy. Surender Reddy is directing the movie on Mega Power Star Ram Charan's Konidela Production Company.
