With best of the knowledge of the trade people Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth's Kaala has been a flop in all languages. However, hero Dhanush, who acted as producer of the film, is narrating a different version to us.
Dhanush claimed the film as a profitable venture. " We would like to dispel rumours run in few articles on #Kaala. Contrary to it, #Kaala is a successful and profitable project for Wunderbar Films and we thank Superstar for the opportunity given to us. We also thank the audience for the positive response given to the film," Dhanush's Wundarbar Films tweeted.
However, there have been no takers for Dhanush's submissions. According to trade reports, the film's theatricals were valued to Rs.170 crores. Nonetheless, the movie minted Rs.95 crores share in its full run world wide. The Telugu version registered a miserable flop with Rs.7 crores share collections.
"Maybe Dhanush got profits selling out the film for fancy prices to dubbing and satellite rights. But then, the buyers and exhibitors suffered huge losses," informed a trade source.
