Madras High Court dismissed Latha Rajinikanth's plea

Super Star Rajinikanth's wife Latha Rajinikanth got huge shock when Madras High Court dismissed her petition challenging another of the Chennai Corporation enhancing the rent for her shop in Alwarpet from Rs 3,702 to Rs 21,160.

Mohan Menon, represented Latha Rajinikanth in a petition filed in the Madras High Court. She sought to quash an order dated June 23, 2017 by the Chennai Corporation which enhanced the rent for her shop in Alawarpet. Justice S.Vaidhyanathan simply dismissed the petition.

While Mohan Menon argued that his client’s business suffered from the recent demonetization, GST and accused that even basic principle to fix a fair rent has not been followed as per the provisions of the Rent Control Act, TC Gopala Krishnan standing counsel for Chennai Corporation submitted that as per a government order, once in 9 years, the corporation has to re-fix the rent.
