While lakhs of grief-stricken people turned out Tuesday from Rajaji Hall to Merina Beach, Chennai to pay last respects to the late Tamil Nadu chief minister, Puratchi Thalaivi, Amma Jayalalitha, the casket was brought to the burial site which is situated next to the late MGR's Memorial.
While Jayalalitha's close aide Shashikala Natarajan was performing the rituals, Amma was buried with all state honours. Earlier, floral tributes were offered by top brass politicians PM Modi, AICCs vice-president Rahul Gandhi, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, Gulam Nabhi Azad, Governor Rosiaiah, union minister Venkaiah Naidu and many others.
