Rocking Star Yash’s Toxic was supposed to be his big comeback after KGF, but the film just can’t catch a break. After spending nearly 3 years on it, director Geethu Mohandas and team announced a June 4, 2026 release. Now, strong buzz says that date is off the table. The main reason? The digital deal is stuck. KVN Productions is asking for a massive Rs 250 crore for OTT rights, but top platforms are not ready to pay more than Rs 110 crore. With such a huge gap, the deal is in limbo.
Another twist is Yash’s own stand. He’s strictly “theatre first” and refuses to show a preview to OTT buyers before release. He feels the real experience should be in cinemas only, but platforms are hesitant to drop huge money without watching the film. There’s more to the delay. KVN Productions is also busy with Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and the financial stress around it. Sources say they’re waiting for clarity on Tamil Nadu’s political situation before locking Jana Nayagan for end of May. Only after that will Toxic get a new date.
This isn’t the first shift either Toxic was earlier moved from March 19 to avoid clashing with Dhurandhar 2. Many are asking if the hype is bigger than the content. The first teaser didn’t create the expected craze, and the second one went viral only for its bold, explicit shots. The shock value worked for a day, but the buzz faded fast.
The pressure on Yash is real. KGF made him a pan-India star, and Toxic has to prove that wasn’t a one-time wonder. The film has a strong cast with Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth. If the OTT deal doesn’t close soon, the budget recovery plan takes a hit. For now, there’s no new release date. The makers will announce one only after the Jana Nayagan situation and OTT deal are sorted.
