When Chandoo Mondeti and Naga Vamsi revealed their plans about their dream project Vayuputra , a film based on Lord Hauman, everyone got excited.
Chandoo Mondeti at that time shared his excitement saying I’m thrilled to step into the fascinating world of animation with Vayuputra. This has been my childhood dream—to tell the story of Lord Hanuman through animation. I’ve always been deeply inspired by Indian epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana. Our story will focus on that magical moment when Hanuman realises his true potential, leaps across the ocean in search of Goddess Sita, and performs extraordinary feats. I believe this tale will not only entertain but also inspire audiences of all ages. Personally, I enjoy animation—be it Marvel films or Demon Slayer—and I watch them with my kids. Now, I want to bring our own mythology alive in the same vibrant way."
Now disappointing reports are coming that the project has been put on hold due to budget constraints. Makers got excited with the script and pre production also started but high end technologies like Animatronics, Motion Capture are reportedly costing Rs 38crs and including salaries the budget shot up to 55crs.
With OTT rights coming to just Rs 20crs and not coming at fancy rates, the makers decided to put on hold. One can say that the project has been shelved.
