The Raja Saab starring Prabhas which recently released and Akhanda Thaandavam which released last year, repeated the same mistakes and turned out to be colossal disasters.
Both had the potential to become blockbusters but the makers wrong decisions changed the fortunes. Had the films been taken keeping the sensitivities and sensibilities of Telugu movie lovers and then considered other markets as the extra surge, things would have been different at the box office.
However, the makers of both the films went in for extravaganza, shored up the budget, laid extravagant sets and went out of their way to impress North movie lovers making changes in the story. Many scenes were forcibly included to attract North movie lovers and this killed the soul of the film. The makers left the Telugu nativity and originality and went for global appeal and burnt their hands.
Especially in the second half of both the films this is seen clearly. The makers changed the second half for Hindi market and this slowed the pace of the narration. Instead of including mass elements and comic scenes that appeal to Telugu movie lovers they tried to elaborate the scenes to North movie lovers and this impacted the floww of the narration.
This is the main reason for the failure of Akhanda Thaandavam. The film lacked the Akhanda's mass energy and Balakrishna's mass roar didnot connect chords with the North movie lovers. The same happened with The Raa Saab. Native comedy is set aside for universal appeal and this turned out to be a disappointment.
The makers failed to realise the adage ' Think Local, Go Global' and forgot how Kantara and other films succeded in other markets.
