OU case adjourned to April 26

A three-member panel headed by Andhra Pradesh Home Secretary to assess the situation and decide on deployment of forces on the Osmania University campus has  informed  the  Supreme Court that the situation improved considerably on the campus.

As  reported earlier  during the last hearing, the apex court constituted a three-member panel to look into the issue of deployment of forces inside the Osmania campus.

The Supreme Court directed that the panel report to be sent to the Andhra Pradesh government and the Osmania students' association and sought their response on it. The case has been adjourned to April 26.

The OU campus is the nerve centre of the Telangana agitation which began late last year. The Andhra Pradesh government had deployed paramilitary forces to control the agitation on the campus.

As reported earlier the Andhra Pradesh High Court had directed the State Government for the removal of police forces from the university campus. This was, however, challenged in the Supreme Court by the state government.
