Technology should not replace human brain: Governor

Technology should not replace human brain: Governor

Artificial Intelligence and technology should function as a facilitator and should not become substitute for human intelligence, said Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan while speaking to a delegation of students from IIT-Kanpur and IIT- Delhi who met him at the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.

The students from IITs explained to the Governor that they are pursuing their goals to set up Start up ventures with the help of innovative technologies and wish to generate employment and want to be part of the Start Up revolution in the country. They informed the Governor they want to be entrepreneurs rather than employment seekers.

The Governor told the students that in the name of technology people should not stop using their brain power and that the projects taken up by the students should have societal relevance and utility. He told them to visit T-Hub at Hyderabad, interact with them and take guidance from them in designing their Start up ventures.

Students should focus their energies on how to build miniature solar panels, how to overcome shortage of faculties in medicine, how to utilise nano-technology, how to save the diminishing natural resources. He said that the Lab-to-Land transfer ratio is not encouraging in our country. Students should focus more on basic problems faced by people in a specific areas such as how sea water can be treated and converted to drinking water in areas facing water shortages etc. He said that revolutionary changes should be brought in health sector and make it more affordable to common man. He further said that education should be seen as a service and not as a commercial activity.
