Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao has criticised the statement of former Union Minister P Chidambaram demanding election of AICC President's post to a person from non-Nehru family.
Speaking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Shankar Rao said that Nehru-Gandhi family has made several sacrifices for the Congress party and therefore, its leadership could not be separated from it. He said members of Nehru-Gandhi family alone could lead the party. He demanded that Chidambaram tender an unconditional apology and withdraw his comments.
