Congress MP from Peddapalli G Vivek on Friday asked the State Government to take steps to tide over the grave power crisis in the State.
Talking to media persons at Assembly media point, the MP expressed serious concern over the looming power crisis in the State and said that about 30 to 40 industries particularly small scale industries have closed their activities and retrenched workers. Apart from increase in unemployment rate due to closure of industries, the MP said that the government would face financial crisis due to poor mobilization of resources in the form of taxes for the welfare programmes. He appealed the government to take permanent measures to tackle the power crisis apart from buying power from private parties.
As the power portfolio was with the Chief Minister, he appealed to N Kiran Kumar Reddy to convene an emergency meeting with the officials to review the power crisis and announce strategy to be adopted to overcome the problem.
Responding to by-elections in the Telangana, he expressed confidence that the people would vote in favour of those who agitated sincerely for the separate statehood and teach a fitting lesson to the Centre. Responding to the demand for creation of separate Pradesh Congress Committee chief post for the Telangana, he said that the Congress high command would create separate PCC post after the by-elections.
Denying the reports that the Telangana agitation was diluted, he said that there was no truth in such reports.
He also said that the Telangana leaders have appealed to the Congress high command to re-nominate K Keshava Rao for the Rajya Sabha seat after the end of his tenure in April.
