Telugu Desam Telangana Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Tuesday called on Telangana Congress Steering Committee convener K Jana Reddy at his residence and appealed him to submit resignations for the cause of Telangana state formation together.
Talking to media persons after meeting Jana Reddy, Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that Jana Reddy responded positively to his suggestion. He said that Jana Reddy assured him that he would take a decision after discussing the matter with his party colleagues.
Rao said that resignation of Forum members alone would not serve any purpose, except necessitating by-elections. “If all elected representatives, across party lines, resign en masse, the state will experience a political and constitutional crisis and the Centre will be forced to take a decision on Telangana immediately,” he stated.
The forum will also convene a round-table conference with all-party leaders to get consensus on the issue. “The conference will help to remove differences among parties on the Telangana state issue,” he said.
Another Forum MLA Motkupalli Narasimhulu took serious note on provocative remarks of Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram against Telangana leaders who failed to resign for the statehood. Demanding withdrawal of comments, he said that a privilege motion would be moved in the assembly against Kodandaram.
