He was later produced before the Second Metropolitan Magistrate Court. The MLA was remanded in judicial custody till August 3 and was shifted to the Rajahmundry Central Prison.

The TDP legislator was in a deep controversy after a case of atrocity agaisnt a gril student was reported from his TVR Nursing College last month. Though initially the district administration has given him a clean chit after a preliminary investigation, later he was charged with indulging in such atrocities against some students from Kerala studying in his college.

The nursing students from Kerala even met the Home Minsiter, Mrs Sabitah Indra Reddy, and also the Governor, Mr N D Tiwari, accusing the MLA of indulging in such incidents and dmanded action against him. Following the serious charges against him, the State Government has asked the CBCID to inquire into the whole episode.

The series of agitations by both the MLA and the TDP did not yield much results in favour of the legislator. The CBCID, after a prima facie evidence, finally arrested him on Monday and shifted him to the Eluru police station.
