Hyderabad, Sept 12 :
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday visited the site of Pavuralagutta in Nallamala hills, where the chopper crashed on September 2, killing the then chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and four others, to investigate into the crash.
The CBI multi-disciplinary investigation team (MDIT) headed by Deputy Inspector General V V Lakshmia Narayana and comprise officers from the Indian Air Force and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation also, CBI sources said.
The premier investigation agency would look into airworthiness and maintenance of the ill-fated helicopter, besides checking its signalling facility and communication systems. The CBI would also inquire what forced the helicopter to deviate from its set path, besides the response from the Air Traffic Control (ATC) in Chennai, they added. Superintendent of Police of CBI in Visakhapatnam, Nageswara Rao would assist the team. The agency would also probe if the Chief Minister’s schedule was known to anyone in advance and whether the signals of the helicopter were tracked.
