Corporation officials crack whip on bars...

Vijayawada, Aug 18 :

The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation officials with the assistance of the city police cracked the whip on bars and restaurants in the city for flouting amusement licence and other norms.

This was the first time that raids on this scale were conducted. The raids covered several parts of the city including Kaleshwara Rao Market, Kotthapeta, Lambadipeta, Bhavanipuram and Kummaripalem. The police also raided wine shops for violating norms.

The raids were conducted by the officials following the directions from the Corporation Commissioner Prajhunma and seized many bars and restaurants for not maintaining norms. "The raids were well planned and the teams briefed in the last minute to maintain confidentiality," a press release issued by the Commissioner said.

The officials said the some bars were seized as they are not maintaining proper parking place, drinking water supply and for not serving healthy food to the customers.
