Lord Ganesha’s birthday is celebrated as Ganesha Chathurthi or Vinayaka Chathurthi with immense enthusiasm in different parts of the country. Every year, a new idol is bought, worshipped and then immersed in water, after a period of 10 days.

Water and air pollution will go up as millions of people will gather to immerse Ganpati idols into the water bodies. Since the idols are made from Plaster of Paris and are often decorated with paints heavy on mercury, these are non-biodegradable naturally and so these continue to float on the water for a long time thereby choking the water bodies and adversely impacting aquatic ecosystem.

Telugu popular artist Adithya Menon took an initiation to support the good cause of Go Green Ganesha. In fact, when celebrities come forward to support such causes, it will inspire many to do the same.

So, folks think wise and chose eco-friendly Ganesha!
