Hyderabad, Feb 2: It was the handiwork of Venkat Rao Goud, brother-in-law of businessman Palagani Prabhakara Rao (first wife's brother) and  his relative Srinivasa Rao, which led to the death of nine-year-old Naga Vaishnavi. After Prabhakar deserted his barren wife and married Narmada, Venkat Rao Goud nursed a grudge and wanted to prevent Prabhakar from registering a Rs.1.5-crore property in the name of Vaishnavi. In order to accomplish their mission they hired goons to execute the task.

After kidnapping the girl on Saturday the abductors killed the driver before throttling the girl in the vehicle itself within 15 minutes of the kidnap and drove away to Guntur where they dumped the body in the boiler of a car shed. The gruesome manner in which the little girl was killed and dumped into a blast furnace and the consequent death of her dazed father spread a deep sense of outrage and anguish in the city, with people of all sections demanding stringent punishment for the culprits.
