Hyderabad,Dec 29: In the wake of a Bandh call given by Joint Action Committee of Osmania University students for Dec 30 to press for Telangana statehood issue, the police has clamped prohibitory orders under Sec 144 of CrPC from Dec 30 to January 5 prohibitng assembly of five or more persons within the limits of the city.Talking to media persons after attending a security review meeting convened by Chief Minister K Rosaiah with top brass of officials,Hyderabad Police Commissioner Prasada Rao said the government has decided to impose prohibitory orders in view of the agitation being spearheaded by the JAC of various political parties demanding a time-frame for a separate Telangana state and also the proposed Bandh on December 30 in the Telangana Districts.

After reviewing the situation carefully and with a view to maintaining public order, peace and tranquility within the city limits, the police have issued prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC.Rao said 112 platoons of additional police forces were deployed in the city for tomorrow’s Bandh. The security of the city will be tightened in view of the agitations. The government would take stern action against those who take the law into their hands and cause damage to the public property.He warned that the government would take stern action against those who object to the New Year Celebrations. He said the New Year revellers should take steps to prevent any untoward incidents such as violence or arson during the celebrations.

He said the State Government would provide adequate protection to film shootings in and out of the State capital  in the wake of attacks by pro-Telangana activists.He said no permission had been given to the Vidyarthi Maha Garjana proposed to be organised on January 3 by the Joint Action Committee of all parties, to press for a time-bound announcement on initiating the process of separate Telangana.He appealed to the students proposing to come to Hyderabad should postpone their trips in view of the Bandh.
