Khammam,Dec 5:Farmers' unions affiliated to Opposition parties on Saturday evolved an action plan to fight against the Government decision to install Water Meters on Nagarjuna Sagar Project Canal. At a round-table meeting, the unions have decided to fight against the move as the officials of the Nagarjuna Sagar Project have called for tenders for the Water Meters on Nov 21.As per the evolved action plan, the unions will educate the farmers on fixing Water Meters between Dec7 and Dec 15 for which meetings would be conducted in the limits of each major canal.

District level leaders of the unions will also attend the meetings. A seminar on the issue would be organised here on Dec 18. The unions will also undertake dharnas and rasta–rokos in a big way consequently.Telugu Raithu Sangam general secretary Nallamala Venkateswar Rao said the agitation would be broadbased soon. “The government should withdraw the decision of installing Water Meters on canals,” he demanded as the ''Farmers would be denied their benefits by the decision.''
