5 rowdy-sheeters banished from Vijayawada

Vijayawada,Nov 18: In a bid to contain rowdy elements,city police commissioner Rajendranath Reddy on Wednesday banished five rowdy-sheeters,four of whom are part of the notorious ``blade batch''who had created a reign of terror in the old city, for six months. The fifth rowdy-sheeter was banished by involking Preventive Detention Act.Although it was not officially announced immediately as the commissioner was busy arranging the bandobust for Rahul Gandhi's visit on Wednesday.The rowdy-sheeters who were taken to task are Padakala Sreenu alias Sivamani,Varre Nagamohan alias Sole, Karre Srinivasa Rao alias Warangal Sreenu,Pushpala Naveen alias Pakodi and Ishaaq.

The PD Act was invoked against Apuri Koteswara Rao who has many cases pending against him in Krishna Lanka police station.The PD Act was invoked against six rowdy-sheeters who were sent to jail.There are 450 rowdy-sheeters in the city and this number may go up as police are set to open rowdy-sheets against 54 more miscreants. In the past,rowdy-sheets were opened against five of Blade Batch Gang and their number swelled to 20. According to police sources,one or two nuisance cases are enough to open a rowdy-sheet against a miscreant and the move is intended to ccontain the activities of rowdy-sheeters who have become a nuisance to the maintenance of law and order.
