State seeks Rs 800 crore for road repair works

Hyderabad,Oct 27: The state government has sought Rs 800 crores assistance from the Centre under Calamity Relief Fund to take up repair works to flood damaged Roads in various districts, stated Minister for Roads and Buildings Galla Aruna Kumari.Talking to media persons after reviewing road repair works with the officials concerned, the Minister stated that nearly 4,295 km of national and State highways were damaged by the recent floods in the State and sanction of Rs 1,309 crore was needed for restoring them.

The Minister said so far the department had received Rs 187 crore from the government for restoration of Roads in flood hit areas.The department has written a letter to Centre in this regard seeking financial assistance to take up road repair works.Floods ravaged Mahabubnagar and Kurnool districts and damaged Roads and causeways, she added.
