Till recently the filmmakers, exhibitors, distributors, and producers after reeling under the covid pandemic, planned to revive their lives by batting for an increase in the ticket rates. However, they were in for a shock when the movie lovers stayed away from the theatres. At that time, all of them felt that the people were scared of covid and that was why they avoided venturing out to theatres and blamed the OTT revolution for the changed mindset.

However, it quickly dawned on many that affordable ticket rates will make people long for a theatrical experience or else they wait only to watch the best of the best films on the big screen. The National Cinema Day proved this but even then few filmmakers and producers opted for the hike in ticket rates believing that they had the strong content and can offer better visual effects for the viewers on the big screen.

This resulted in the makers of the recent Maniratnam film Ponniyin Selvan placing their film's ticket rates at Rs 295. Viewers who watched the film on the big screen started cursing themselves and also the makers for taking them for a ride. Under these circumstances, the makers of Chiranjeevi's Godfather and Nagarjuna's The Ghost who placed their films for Dasara release on October 5, went for dead cheap affordable rates.

The ticket rates for both the films in multiplexes are Rs 150 and many are of the opinion that two of the star heroes placing their ticket rates at affordable prices during Dasara release will offer double dhamaka to movie lovers on Dasara. This will result in increased footfalls for both the films and analysts are commending the brave move from both the stars who could have easily gone for the increased ticket rates for the festive season when the makers of Ponniyin Selvan, Nene Vastunna, and others opted to do so. This speaks volumes of Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna's love for their fans and movie lovers in Tollywood.
