Why Dev Mohan In Shakuntalam?

Samantha Akkineni has announced that she started her preparation mode for mythological film, Shakuntalam. On Instagram, sharing the screenplay book of Shakuntalam, Samantha drew heart symbol over it.

Helmed by Gunasekhar, the pan-India film is based on Kalidasa’s Abhijnana Shakuntalam. The film sees Malyalam hero Dev Mohan stepping into the shoes of King Dushyantha. For the unversed, Dev Mohan is a popular Malayalam actor who shot to fame with Aditi Rao Hydari’s Sufiyam Sujathayum.

Many are pondering as to what made Gunasekhar to choose Dev Mohan over other star heroes in Tollywood. The reason behind to rope in Malayalam actor is that although he shot to fame with one film and hasn’t scored huge success, his demeanor looks are the reason. The other things is getting star heroes for huge fee will put Gunasekhar in tight spot.

Shakuntalam was announed in January. Gunaa Team Works wrote, "Shaakuntalam... Kavyanayaki... Here's the BIG REVEAL Motion poster (sic)." While many actresses names were in consideration from Pooja Hegde to others but Sam was finally zeroed in.
