One always needs an extra bit of luck besides talent to taste fame in the film industry and singer-composer Kalyani Malik’s career is a good example of it. The composer began his career on a high with Chandrasekhar Yeleti’s Aithe, which also established his credibility as a singer. As fate would have it, his career didn’t take off as expected and he was limited to a string of small and medium budgeted films where his good work didn’t get a great audience.

Some films with Mohana Krishna Indraganti, Srinivasa Avasarala and Nandini Reddy gave him a good push, though one must say the composer’s potential hasn’t been tapped to the fullest. Check has Kalyani Malik returning to Yeleti after an 18-year gap. Though the film has only one song, the background score has received considerable appreciation from the unit. The composer says Check is Yeleti’s most commercial film to date and that he’s evolved well as a filmmaker over these 18 years. Apparently, Kalyani Malik was only approached for Check in October last year after the shoot was wrapped up.

While the commercial success of Check could help the music director’s career considerably, he is making his presence felt in the digital space too. He had composed for the digital sequel to Amrutham titled Amrutham Dwitheeyam and is working on two other web shows.  The two web shows include a project with Shreyas Media titled Godaari Kathalu and another web series featuring Niharika Konidela, Anasuya in important roles, he confirmed in an interview with a leading English daily. Will Kalyani Malik’s career finally take a turn for the better now?
