Actually, Vijay Devarakonda was approached to play the lead role in Meeku Mathrame Cheptha. But, the actor felt it is not appropriate to do such an experimental film at this point of time when his market range is close to 30 crores and more importantly he needs to score a super hit given that his recent films bombed at the box office.

Vijay Devarakonda cleverly shifted the project to Tharun Bhascker, as he really liked the concept though it is too small for him. Tharun Bhascker who proved his acting prowess with Falaknuma Das has accepted to play a full length role when his friend requested him.

Tharun Bhascker somewhat tried hard to play the character but he couldn’t emote all the emotions. Those who watched the film opined, Tharun Bhascker is definitely a good actor, but it’s not the right idea for him to play lead roles.

While Vijay Devarakonda cleverly escaped, Tharun Bhascker became a scapegoat by accepting to do ‘hero’ in the former’s maiden production venture produced by Shammeer Sultan.
