Who is actually the first successful Telugu top star in Bollywood? It was none other than Megastar Chiranjeevi

Chiranjeevi starrer Pratibandh, which is the remake of Ankusham, was released on September 28, 1990. The film stood as one of the blockbusters in Bollywood in 1990. Thereafter, Megastar once again worked for a Hindi film Aaj Kaa Gundaraj (1992), the remake of Telugu industry hit Gang Leader. The film stood as an above average venture with no loss and no profits at the ticket windows.

Riding high on the results of Pratibandh and Aaj Kaa Gundaraj, Megastar worked for one more Hindi film The Gentleman, the remake of Arjun's Gentleman. However, this film stood as a huge debacle at the box office.

To sum up, Chiranjeevi maintained good success rate in Bollywood with 2 successful ventures among a total of 3. Chiranjeevi could have done more Hindi films then. But then, he was facing a series of failures in Tollywood in that season and which changed his perspective on doing Bollywood ventures. Eventually, he firmly decided not to enact anymore Hindi films. Whatsoever, Chiranjeevi attained the status of being the first successful hero in Bollywood.

King Nagarjuna with Shiva and Victory Venkatesh with Anari also scored super hits in Bollywood. However, most of their other Bollywood ventures became duds.
