Super Star Mahesh Babu’s much hyped silver jubilee film Maharshi opened to a roaring response at the box office, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics. The film, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, stayed strong in the subsequent days and ended Week one on a solid note. However, the film has slowed down considerably from second week.
Actually, Maharshi never really clicked with most critics as they criticized it quite ruthlessly. While Mahesh Babu received praise for his solid performance, the predictable screenplay failed to impress. Moreover, many felt the film has resembled Mahesh Babu’s previous films. The general feeling is that Maharshi could have done better had the word of mouth not been so negative.
Producers who spent heavy budget on Maharshi had sold theatrical rights for exorbitant prices. Although Maharshi is still running in decent number of theaters, low occupancy is said to be the worrying factor. The film’s business indeed is coming to an end in almost all the zones. Though the film is turning out to be a safe venture in maximum of territories, it is ending as a flop maker in few centers like Ceded, USA etc.
Mahesh Babu who came back from a vacation in Europe will soon start working for his 26th film Sarileru Neekevvaru to be directed by Anil Ravipudi. Rashmika Mandanna is the leading lady in the film where Mahesh Babu will be seen as an army officer.
