Yatra, a film that focuses on Padayatra part of Former Andhra Pradesh CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy, starring Mammootty and directed by Mahi V Raghav turned out as an above average grosser. YSRCP leaders deliberately made Star MAA to premiere the film tomorrow, just 4 days ahead of Elections in Andhra Pradesh.

It is known news that TDP leader Varla Ramaiah moved to the Election commission (EC) to issue orders to stop the movie telecasting in TV channel before the Election citing it is a violation of Election code. He complained to AP Election commissioner Dwivedi regarding the same.

However, EC has cleared the film’s television premiere. With EC giving clean chit, Yatra will be telecasted tomorrow in Star Maa. In its statement, EC stated, “With reference to the letter cited, it is informed that the subject matter has been placed before the media certification (MCMC) Committee for their examination and remarks on 05.04.2019. The Committee has opined that the telecast of commercial films cannot be restrained in TV channels and Cinema Theaters as per ECI guidelines and it doesn’t come under violation of Model Code Of Conduct.”
