She said she was offered the controversial film Padmaavat. It is known that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Sushant Singh Rajput created a huge controversy. Fringe groups attacked the makers and the actors and threatened even to kill them alleging that they hurt the sentiments of the Rajputs.

Kangana speaking to scribes revealed that Bhansali and she met about the film and he even narrated the script and offered the role. She revealed, “Oh, yes. In fact, we had a brief meeting for Padmaavat (2018). He narrated me the script. There was this conversation, and I was doing Manikarnika then, so it didn’t go anywhere. But we had a brief narration. Before that as well, he wanted me to do the Ram-Leela song. He is a filmmaker who can leave strong impressions on you especially if you are a fresh mind.”
