If Satakarni Has No Tax, Why Not Fidaa?

Mega Prince Varun Tej's Fidaa stood as a huge blockbuster at the box office. Furthermore, the film has become a trend setter. Unlike most other movies in the past, Fidaa showed the beauty of Telangana state. Team Fidaa conveyed a strong message to other filmmakers that there are wonderful picturesque locations in Telangana as in Konaseema of AP. 

Besides, Telangana dialect's beauty is reflected in heroine, her sister and other characters' words. Hereafter, many filmmakers come forward to show Telangana, its culture, traditions and its dialect on a quite positive note. As a result, Fidaa has emerged as a trend setter in Telugu cinema. 

Earlier, this year, Natasimham Nandamuri Balakrishna's historical film Gauthamiputra Satakarni was exempted from entertainment tax. Since there was just a single scene that showcased Satakarni was born in Telangana, the makers claimed tax exemption and Telangana government too did a great favour exempting tax. However, critics and historians then condemned that the makers had twisted the story and it was no way connected to Telangana.

Comparatively, Fidaa is wholly deserved for tax exemption. Wonder what the makers of the film showed no interest in requesting the government for tax exemption. Perhaps, they might have felt the film was a regular romantic entertainer. But the film has to be viewed as a brand Telangana's product and should be considered for tax exemption.
