Analysis: Why No Agitation Against Demonetization?

Modi's supporters are seen defending the silly decision of demonetization with unreasonable arguments. According to them, there could have been a huge Agitation from the people ever since demonetization came into force. "Since nothing of that sort is happening, people welcomed the decision of high currency notes ban," say BJP's activists.

But then, analysts rubbished these arguments. "People at this moment, are hurried collecting their Rs.2000 notes from ATMs. Unlike other Agitations, protests against demonetization would not yield fruitful results. Further, people understood, their Agitation could not make government taking back the decision of high notes ban," say the analysts.

There is another argument that the BJP government mght have got negative results in the local polls of some of the states post demonetization. The BJP got mixed results in ;those polls. Analysts opined that local polls do not have much impact on union government's policies. Instead the results are mostly depended on the local political issues. Moreover, ruling political parties have always edge on local polls. Even then the BJP got shocking results in Maharashtra."
