Indian PM Narendra Modi’s Twitter handle @narendramodi is 46th most popular handle in Twitterverse with huge activity going on each day. Unfortunately, when Modi announced demonetization of Rs. 500 and Rs 1,000 notes on November 8th, his Twitter handle lost 3,13,312 followers in just a day.

But the effect was so short lived because his sweeping steps to check black money is rewarded in following days when the number spiked back growing by 4,30,128 new followers taking the total to breach 24M mark. So, there was although a backlash initially but the daily average new followers added to PM’s handle rouse above 27,000 making him very special.

As per Twitter analytics tool Twittercounter.com, Prime Minister had 24,120,043 followers on Nov 8th, lost 3,13,312 followers with final least count at 23,806,731 by Nov 9th. By November 10, the number sprang back growing by 4,30,128 new followers and its currently moving beyond 24.3M.
