Can't They Get Padma Awards?

On the eve of Republic Day, the Government of India conferred a total of 112 Padma Awards to the people who showed exceptional performances in respective fields. The awards distribution ceremony will be held in the month of March/April at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi.

Rajinikanth, Ramoji Rao, Rajamouli, Sania Mirza and Saina Nehwal are the few among the prominent personalities who would be honoured with Padma Awards. Rajinikanth and Ramoji Rao were conferred with India's second highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan.

Kudos to the winners of Padma Awards as they truly deserve these awards for their excellencies in their fields. But then, the Government of India has done injustice again to some of the eminent personalities down South. We have all time great directors like K Raghavendra Rao and his contemporaries. But the government has ignored them. Kaikala Satyanaraya should have been given away the award long back owing to his seniority and trend created by him among character artists. Many more artists and technicians of yesteryears and current generation deserve Padma Awards but the governments have been ignoring those great personalities over the years. Let's hope, they will be honoured with Padma Awards in the future for sure.
