Having got frustrated with the religious intolerance of the existing union government, some of the intellectuals have started giving back the awards received by them. How far their decision is justifiable is the point of discussion. Some analysts the decision of those intellectuals is something like slap on the face of the government while some more analysts point out that just for the sake a political party or a politician, giving back the award is not a fair decision.

Great actor Kamal Haasan also proclaims he would not give back the awards received by him. "I don't think that returning awards is a good thing. I am not insulting those who gave back the awards. But I don't think that for the sake of one government's decision you give back your award. I will not give my awards back as they were given by a different mindset," said Kamal Haasan in a recent media interview.
