Yuvraj Singh Father Derogatory Remarks In Rashii Khanna Series

Former cricketer and actor Yograj Singh has filed for anticipatory bail in the Chandigarh District Court. This comes after an FIR was filed against him for comments about women in a clip from the web series Lukkhe. The court has sent a notice to Chandigarh Police and asked them to respond by May 20. The case started after a short 17 second clip went viral online. In the clip, his character Walia Sahab makes a statement about women that many found offensive.
Yograj Singh says the clip is from a web series where he was playing a role. His lawyer said he had a contract for the show and was only acting. The plea also says the FIR is false. The Chandigarh Police filed the case under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 62-A of the IT Act. Advocate Ujjwal Bhasin made the complaint. He said the remarks insult women across the country who work to earn a living. Lukkhe is streaming on Amazon Prime Video and also stars Raashii Khanna, Palak Tiwari, and Ayesha Raza.
The Punjab State Women’s Commission has also stepped in. Chairperson Raj Lali Gill took notice of media reports about the remarks. She asked for an inquiry by a senior officer from the Punjab Police. She plans to meet the Punjab DGP to make sure action is taken. Bhasin has asked the Commission to take suo motu action. He said the statement affects not just women in Chandigarh but all women who go out to work.
This is not the first time Yograj Singh has faced trouble for his public statements. He has made strong comments about cricketers like Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kapil Dev, and Bishan Singh Bedi in the past. For now the court will hear the matter on May 20. The case has started a big debate on what actors say in films and web shows and how it impacts real life.
