Yash had announced the film last year and unveiled the title in December. While specific details about the project remain under wraps, recent reports suggest that Kareena will play the lead role.

During a fan interaction, Kareena hinted at the possibility of her involvement in a major South Indian film, which is now a pan-India venture. She expressed her excitement about this new opportunity, indicating that it would be her first time working on such a project.

Regarding "Toxic," the film represents Yash's 19th movie. Along with revealing the title, Yash also released a short video that offers a glimpse of his character. The video features various anti-heroes, including DC Comics' iconic villain Joker, with each image of these characters engulfed in flames. Eventually, the video reveals Yash's character, who is portrayed with a pot-belly, a retro hat, and a machine gun, while he holds a cigar and rests the gun on his shoulder. The title "Toxic" is then displayed, with the tagline "A fairytale for grown-ups."

Produced by Venkat K Narayana under KVN Productions, the film initially had Sai Pallavi and Raashii Khanna speculated as potential leading ladies before Kareena's name was associated with the project.

Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor Khan is gearing up for the release of "Crew," which also stars Tabu and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. She is also currently shooting for Rohit Shetty's "Singham Again."
